Medical
transcription, also known as MT, is an allied health profession,
which deals in the process of transcription, or converting
voice-recorded reports as dictated by physicians or other healthcare
professionals, into text format.
If
you are a student of science background and have a good knowledge of
medical terminology, you can be a part time transcriptionist.
Gradually, the field is getting trend among not only science but also
students from different backgrounds. Around 6 months training is
enough to get into this field. You should have good typing speed and
an impeccable hearing capability for this job. Medical transcription
is still the primary mechanism for a physician to clearly communicate
with other healthcare providers who access the patient record, to
advise them on the state of the patient's health and past/current
treatment, and to assure continuity of care.
